Ryudai Takano

There are only a few Japanese photographers famous for their nude works of art, and Ryudai Takano is one of them. Born in 1983 in Fukuda, Japan, Takano went to study Political Science and Economics at Waseda University. Despite the fine education that would place him in the higher echelons of the government, Takano opted to pursue his passion for photography. In 2006, Takano was recognized with the 13th Ihei Kimura Award.

His first solo exhibit, “The Specimen of a Woman,” was shown in the Hiranagachobashi Gallery in Tokyo. That same year, his collection “Nippon” was exhibited in Tokyo’s Konica Plaza. His other portraits were also shown in international exhibits, such as the “Japanese Contemporary Art Exhibit” held in the Turkish Japanese Foundation Center in Turkey last 2002 and “Musk of Japan: Japanese Contemporary Photography” shown in Aura Gallery in Shanghai, China last 2004.

In 2005, his portraits were seen in the exhibits “Post Gender,” which was shown in the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art in Israel and “Out of the ordinary/Extraordinary: Japanese Contemporary Photography,” which was catalogued in the Museum fuer Ostasiatische Kunst in Germany. His shots were also included in the 2008 Paris Photo Exhibit held in the Louvre Museum in France.
